HonestScan

Terms of Service

1. General provisions

1. These Terms of Service govern the use of the "HonestScan" web application (the "App"), available at honestscan.app and honestscan.netlify.app.

2. The service provider and operator of the App is Rafał Jaworski, trading as PapaRaf Hub, a sole trader based in Shepton Mallet, England, United Kingdom (the "Provider"). Contact: support@honestscan.app.

3. By using the App, you accept these Terms.

2. Definitions

3. Nature and scope of the service

1. The App lets you photograph or upload a food label and automatically analyses its ingredients for, among other things, allergens, artificial additives (E-numbers), sugar content, suitability for children/pregnancy, and vegan compatibility. In pets mode the App checks a dog or cat food, treat or supplement label for, among other things, substances toxic to animals, common allergens, composition quality and marketing claims.

2. All image analysis (OCR) happens locally in the User's browser – label photos are never uploaded to or stored on the Provider's servers.

3. The App is for informational and supportive purposes only. Its results do not constitute medical, dietary or legal advice and do not replace consultation with a qualified professional. Results in pets mode are not veterinary advice and do not replace consultation with a veterinary surgeon.

4. Conditions of use

1. Using the App requires a device with internet access, an up-to-date browser, and – for scanning – camera access.

2. The User agrees to use the App for its intended purpose and in accordance with applicable law.

3. The Provider makes reasonable efforts to keep the App working correctly but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation (e.g. OCR accuracy depends on photo quality and label legibility).

5. Purchase and Licence Key

1. The Full Version is purchased through the external payment platform Payhip – see the "Payments" page for details.

2. After purchase, the User receives an individual Licence Key (one per purchase) to enter in the App. Activation requires an internet connection once per device; the key is checked by the Provider's server against Payhip. After activation the App also works offline.

3. One Licence Key can be active on up to 5 devices/browsers. Activation is saved in the browser's local storage; clearing browser data or changing device requires activating again with the same key, which may count as a new device. If the limit is reached, the User can ask the Provider (support@honestscan.app) to reset the key's device list.

4. The Licence Key is for the User's personal use only and may not be resold or shared publicly.

5. A Licence Key is switched off when the purchase is refunded (Payhip disables the key automatically). The key can then no longer be activated, and devices already activated lose access the next time the App checks the key online (at most about once a week). The Provider may also switch off a key that has been shared publicly.

6. Right of withdrawal

1. Under applicable consumer protection law, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for contracts to supply digital content not on a physical medium does not apply once performance has begun with the consumer's express consent and after being informed that this right will be lost.

2. By purchasing and activating the Licence Key, the User consents to immediate performance of the digital service and acknowledges the resulting loss of the right of withdrawal.

3. Notwithstanding the above, if technical issues prevent use of the Full Version, the User may contact the Provider – see the "Payments" page regarding possible refunds.

7. Complaints

1. Complaints about the App or the purchase process can be sent to: support@honestscan.app.

2. Please include a description of the issue and contact details.

3. The Provider aims to respond to complaints within 14 calendar days of receipt.

8. Liability

1. The Provider is not liable for purchasing, dietary or pet-feeding decisions made by the User based on the App's results.

2. OCR and analysis results may contain errors due to photo quality, unusual packaging fonts, or the limitations of text-recognition technology. Users should always verify a product's ingredients directly on the packaging.

3. The App does not replace professional medical advice – in particular for allergies, chronic conditions (e.g. diabetes) or other conditions requiring medical supervision, decisions should be made in consultation with a doctor or dietitian.

4. If you suspect your pet has been poisoned, contact a vet immediately. The absence of a warning in the App does not mean a product is safe for your pet.

9. Intellectual property

The App, its code, design, knowledge base, and the name "HonestScan" are the property of the Provider and are protected by law. Copying, modifying or redistributing the App without the Provider's consent is prohibited.

10. Personal data

Personal data processing is described in the separate Privacy Policy.

11. Final provisions

1. The Provider may amend these Terms. Users will be informed of changes via a new version published in the App.

2. Matters not covered by these Terms are governed by applicable law of England and Wales.

3. Last updated: 13 October 2026.
